Plant-Based Hot Cocoa

 Plant-Based Hot Cocoa
Serves 2 • Total Time: 5 minutes • FODMAP rating: low to medium

This plant-based hot chocolate will warm you up on the cool fall mornings! Top with your favorite dairy-free whipped cream and chocolate chips and your taste buds will be so happy.

Ingredients
2 cups plant milk
4 pitted Medjool dates, soaked if not using a high-speed blender
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1.Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If a sweeter flavor is desired, you can add more dates or pure maple syrup, to taste.
2.Pour chocolate milk into a small saucepan until it reaches the desired temperature.
3.Serve with toppings.

*Don’t forget to preload on vegetables before you drink
*Nut-Free: Substitute almond butter with cookie butter, soy nut butter or coconut butter
*FODMAP swap: Select a plant milk other than soy or oat milk or keep these milk portions to under ½ cup and increase as tolerated. Cut out all 4 dates and increase as tolerated and substituting in maple syrup or another liquid added sweetener with the ratio of 1:2 for liquid sweetener to dates.
