This savory crumbled tofu is packed with flavor and mimics the texture of ground meat—perfect for tacos, pasta sauce, soups, and more. It's versatile, protein-rich, and easy to prep using either an air fryer or oven.
Ingredients:
-
1 block firm or extra-firm tofu (14–16 oz), pressed
-
3–4 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
-
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
1 tbsp tomato paste (or ketchup in a pinch)
-
1 tsp smoked paprika
-
½ tsp oregano
-
½ tsp chili powder (optional, or sub Italian seasoning for a milder flavor)
-
Black pepper, to taste
-
Splash of balsamic vinegar or lime juice (optional, for depth)
Instructions:
1. Prep the Tofu
Press tofu for at least 10–15 minutes to remove excess water (wrap in a towel and set a heavy pan on top if you don’t have a tofu press).
Crumble the tofu into a large bowl using your hands or a fork—think ground beef texture.
2. Season
Add all the seasonings to the crumbled tofu and mix well until everything is evenly coated.
3. Cook

Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Oven Method:
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
