Churro Chickpeas

Churro Chickpeas

Servings: About 4 servings
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cans chickpeas, drained (reserve a little aquafaba)

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon ginger

  • ½ teaspoon cardamom

  • ½ teaspoon allspice

Instructions

  1. Drain chickpeas and set aside a few tablespoons of aquafaba.

  2. In a bowl, mix chickpeas, maple syrup, spices, and a splash of aquafaba.

  3. Transfer mixture to a skillet over medium heat.

  4. Cook until the maple syrup evaporates and coats the chickpeas thickly and stickily.

  5. Transfer chickpeas to an air fryer or baking sheet.

  6. Air fry or bake at 400°F (205°C) for 10 minutes, until crispy.

Shortcut: If using regular sugar instead of maple syrup, you can skip the stovetop step and bake directly.
