Budget Friendly Whole Wheat Artisan Bread

Budget Friendly Whole Wheat Artisan Bread
Makes: 10-12 slices | Total Time: 12-18 hours. |  FODMAP Rating: Low

Skip the store bough bread and try this easy, healthy and budget friendly whole wheat artisan bread. If you have never made homemade bread, this is the perfect recipe to start with! Serve with your favorite jam or serve as a side. 

Ingredients
4 cups whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
2 cups room temperature water 

Instructions
1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, salt and active dry yeast. Pour in the water and stir until everything is combines and a dough forms.
2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit on the counter for 12 to 18 hours.
3. After the dough has risen for 12 to 18 hours, preheat the oven to 475 degrees. While the oven is preheating place a dutch oven or bread pans with the lid on in.
4. While the oven and pot are preheating, use floured hands to remove the dough from the bowl and roughly form it into a ball. Place it on a piece of parchment paper and set aside.
5. Once the oven and pot have preheated, carefully remove and drop the parchment paper with the dough and cover.
6. Bake the bread for 30 minutes with the lid on. Then remove the lid and allow the bread to bake another 15 minutes or until golden brown and crusty on the outside.
7. Remove the pot from the oven and carefully remove the bread from the pot using the parchment paper. Allow it to cool completely before slicing.
